Is it possible to put my second set available to other GUS enthusiasts? Please answer! To: Ultrasound Daily Digest Ok, since no one seems to want to do a FAQ, I thought I'd take a stab at it in my free time (ha ha). Besides all the standard stuff, I thought I'd make a list of the most popular PD programs out there. Which ever programs do the best will go on the FTP site. So, if you can answer any of these questions, please send me your replies. Don't send them to the list. (Yes, I am a bandwidth conservation freak.) Rule #1: You can just give a simple answer if you want, but if you have any details to add, please do. Rule #2: If you suggest a piece of software, you HAVE to say where to get it from. I'm not going to spend a lot of time chasing down programs. Nyeah nyeah nyeah. Rule #3: Make sure to say if the program works (well) with the Ultrasound. If it's a great piece of software, and we can't use it, maybe we can all put some pressure on the author. (It has to at least work on IBM compats under MS-DOS, though.) Here's the questions: What's the best public domain/freeware program for: 1] ...sampling? (This includes creating the sample, editing the sample, applying effects, merging samples, etc., etc.) 2] ...converting between different sample formats? 3] ...*playing* .MOD files? 4] ...*creating* and *editing* .MOD files? 5] ...composition *without* samples? (IE: Only using synthesized voices.) 6] ...composition *with* samples? 7] ...playing the MIDI files that have been sent out on the digest? 8] ...creating and editing the MIDI files that have been sent out on the digest? I have ordered one from Gravis directly and it's for US$179.00 plus S/H. If there is another place where I can get it for cheaper, please let me know. I will then cancel my order with Gravis right away! I will need to get a midi connector box anyway, so I would like to get the GUS for the lowest price possible. With Gravis, I still have to wait "2 to 3 weeks" anyway before I get the card. So please let me know where I can order a GUS for a price much lower than US$179.00. -Tim ------------------------------ Date: 8 Nov 92 09:44:11 GMT From: norlin@midway.ecn.uoknor.edu (Norman Lin) Message-Id: <1992Nov8.094411.3153@constellation.ecn.uoknor.edu> Subject: MODEDIT 3.0 now available Summary: MODEDIT 3.0 is here To: Ultrasound Daily Digest ModEdit 3.0 is completed. To: Ultrasound Daily Digest Ok, where is Chris Yuzik? I sent him 3 pieces of mail ages ago concerning problems I've been having with the UltraSound and haven't received a single reply! And where is he on here? We finally got a rep and he doesn't seem to play an active role in the discussions on here. I hope someone from Gravis reads this and starts to make some changes. ------------------------------ End of Ultrasound Daily Digest V1 #14 ******************************
