What causes this? Can anyone help? Is it because I only have the 256k of memory? And I have to upgrade? Thanks. jagati1@server.uwindsor.ca ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 24 Dec 1992 23:36:20 -0500 (EST) From: impster@ais.org (Charles Budensiek) Message-Id: Subject: Problem with newest SBOS beta To: Ultrasound Daily Digest After installing the newest version of the beta SBOS I have had good sucess with programs running. Except for WOWII. It won't even start. It just jams up the computer making me do a warm boot. I have gone through all the available settings to no avail. WOWII worked just fine on version 1.22 beta. BTW: I am using an 80286 16MHz clone with 1 Meg of memory. -- ============================================================================= | "Anyone have a coat hanger? What programs should we run to test out the improvements? When, oh, when will the MIDI patch loader be ready? Once again, is there a MOD player that has the anti-aliasing feature? And which also allow clear, crisp stereo output? WOWII's output degrades when you select the stereo option (wowii.exe /pro filename.mod). -Tim ------------------------------ Date: 24 Dec 1992 10:57:22 -0800 From: ASHLEY Message-Id: <01GSOWI9B5ZM90MTHM@BIIVAX.DP.BECKMAN.COM> Subject: Ultrasound Daily Digest V1 #56 To: Ultrasound Daily Digest >>While I was able to successfully play the mid files using the GUS, I >>encountered a couple of strange problems (static bursts, low/no volume >>out of one speaker) running the "flidemo" and Starcon II which not so >>surprisingly are using a GRAPHICS mode. > >I got static and wrong patches with Starcon II with Qemm and and GUS @ DMA3, >after moving the GUS to DMA5 it ended. I don't have the tech ref in front of me so I can't look it up. If so this may account for differences in behaviour (dma 3/5)? Ashley parish daparish@biivax.dp.beckman.com .___ ! o/ ! After I played games with sbos, I unloaded it and coldboot my machine once to start windows, but 2 out of 3 times, strange sounds come out after the windows was loaded, part of the sounds are the sounds of the games I played before I re- booted the machine. This doesn't happen before I upgraded the card to 1 Mb. I've tried to unloaded the sbos, type ultrainit and then reboot my machine before running windows. Still strange sounds come back sometimes. I personally think the problem is the ram on the GUS. Is there a way to make sure the sound of the games loaded by sbos to be cleared definitely before I run windows, coldboot and ultrinit, I've tried, Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance!
