Listen, if you don't like the software, then either don't use it, or complain by writing a letter, fax, or telephoning the support lines given in the manual. Some of us *pay* for the priviledge of reading this digest, and your derogatory ramblings are inappropiate. Keep them between you and Forte. Incidentally, the header of the message from Forte in the digest gave their email address: support@fortech.com (Technical Support) Many companies do not give/have personal mail addresses, or choose to not give them to the outside world, for a number of reasons, almost all of which are directly for better customer support. Have a Happy New Year! That is strange. I am using six of the AA1M304P-07 NMBS 9311 E2 chips, and they work great. Hi, I'm a new GUS owner (one of many, I'm sure). I have a few things I'd sure appreciate some help with. Don't get me wrong, I think the GUS sounds great, but... The "gusdram" DRAM diagnostic program gives me inconsistent results. I installed the additional memory to bring it up to a meg (Samsung 4x256 parts). Are there known problems with gusdram? (I don't have SBOS running when I run gusdram.) All indications from using applications show that the RAM is OK. Another DRAM tester named "dram10b" (GUS DRAM Tester v1.0B by Richard Janicek) shows everything to be fine consistently. What gives??? I have a few questions (for now) concerning MegaEm: What causes the following error message, when doing "emuset off": ERROR: Sound Blaster Emulation is not working correctly. Failed to detect base address. This occurs in v2.01 and v2.02, but not in v2.00b23. I'm using all the default values for ULTRASND (220,1,1,11,7) and BLASTER (A220, I7, D1, T1). MegaEm seems to ignore controller 7 (channel volume) messages. Is this so? If this is the case, this is a serious problem for DOS-based MIDI music software. In my case, Band-In-A-Box for DOS (which works quite well otherwise). ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 2 Jan 1994 16:06:57 -0500 (EST) From: Phat H Tran Subject: Thomas, quit forwarding Usenet articles to the Digest Like the subject says. Thomas van Kuipers, stop forwarding articles from the comp.sys.ibm.pc.soundcard newsgroup to the digest. First of all, the articles you forward are weeks old, and secondly, unless you're also willing to forward the follow-ups to those articles (please don't!) it's mighty useless to just forward the initial posts (nobody wants to answer questions once on the newsgroup and then see the same ones in the digest). The digest is already very noisy as it is, and your efforts aren't helping. Phat. ------------------------------ From: (null) I'd sure appreciate it if someone could shed some light on these issues.
