Since I have a few extra connectors, does anyone need their CD-ROM cable modified? If so, please send your old cable along with a check for $3US (mainly to cover the cost of postage & the connector) and your email address to me and I'll modify it for you. I hope this saves some money for some you guys. :) Felix Ng 2137 Qualicum Dr. Vancouver, B.C. V5P 2M3 Canada ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 26 Mar 1994 11:13:14 -0500 From: "Gregory K. Maier" Subject: Cant get any GUS sound with Ultima 8 I wish I could find the words to describe my anger and frustration. Oh, here, I found some... I CAN'T GET ANY SOUND OUT OF THE GUS WITH U8! 1. These are the files that look sound-related: ULTIMA8\AILXMI.DLL 18,568 ULTIMA8\SOUND\SOUND.FLX 1,229,584 ULTIMA8\SOUND\MUSIC.FLX 1,378,135 ULTIMA8\SOUND\A16SBFM.DLL 18,568 ULTIMA8\SOUND\A16MT32.DLL 13,191 2. Setup History Iteration Table (SHIT) SBOS 3.08 - Hangs with params -x1, -x2, -x3, -o1, -o2, and no params MEGAEM 2.03 - Hangs with params -mt, (no)-mt - Haven't tried -RIRQ yet to see if that helps (I doubt it will) GUSAIL3214 - I tried renaming the A32... files to be called A16... This made things worse - U8 exited with a gnarly error I don't want to play this without any sound, of course. I have confidence that someone somewhere will figure something out, just like with U7 and U7.5. My impression of the game so far is that it's boring without sound! I'm just curious... Noooooo, don't start Chicago talk here. Of course will Gravis have windows drivers. But you can be 100% sure that they won't come *before* the release of the final version (probably some time afterthat too). So, let's wait with Chicago talk for a year or more. Maybe it's out then. But you can bet Gravis will release the Chicago drivers before the OS/2 one. ***** SIGH ***** __ ThomasEZ.. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 25 Mar 94 14:58:09 CST From: Daniel A Nielsen Subject: Megaem & Novell 7 Well, since I haven't been able to get my subscription to this newgrp going, I miss some of the daily posts. I've migrated my system from MSDOS 5.0 to Novell 7. Guess what, Megaem doesn't work! Is says it doesn't understand or recognize the EMS driver. I use version 2.03 from the gus0041.zip file. What can I do to get megaem working? Please try to mail me direct since I can't depend on getting the daily post. You may have to route it thru BRL with the following: dnielsen%ria-emh2.army.mil@brl.army.mil or danielse%letterkenn-emh1.army.mil@brl.army.mil thanks dan ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 25 Mar 94 22:54:23 CST From: Daniel A Nielsen Subject: Movell 7 and Megaem Megaem says I should report the following error on Novell 7: ERROR: EMM incompatibility problem: EMM internal structure is not recognized. What to do now? regards dan ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 25 Mar 1994 20:40:40 -0800 From: blarren@uclink.berkeley.edu (Bart Adam Larrenaga) Subject: SSI's Ravenloft and GUS I just bought SSI's Ravenloft: Strahd's Possession. Though it is supposed to support the GUS using the 32-bit drivers, it did not install them itself. I did this manually, but the sound is erratic. If the music doesn't play all of the patches in memory and crash, the digital sounds don't play. Anybody else tried this game? IF so, did you get it to work? How? --Bart Larrenaga blarren@uclink.berkeley.edu ------------------------------ End of GUS Daily Digest V11 #50 *******************************
