I cannot find that message anymore, could that person please re-port that information? I have the Mitsumi 1x drive, and although I can strip off the connector at the GUS end and put each lead on the pin, I'd like to have a real connector. I also have a Sony CDU-531 at work for which the cable has long since disappeared, and I'd like a replacement. -- Mike Batchelor | UseLinuxUseLinuxUseLinuxUseLinuxUseLinuxUseLinuxUseLinux mikebat@netcom.com | xuniLesUxuniLesUxuniLesUxuniLesUxuniLesUxuniLesUxuniLesU ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Plug 'N' Play: A specification invented by Microsoft and Intel which enables a computer and its operating system to create hardware conflicts without user intervention. I have a 3.7 GUS. I like the mixer in windows, but is there a way to set the levels of line-in, mic-in and CD-in in DOS? Ultrinit doesn't list any options for setting the volume levels. Also, is the CD-in the same level as a line-in? If so, would it be OK to get a soundblaster, and have its output going to the CD-in connector, so I'd still have the line-in on the GUS available? I have tried CDGRAB 3.2 on my Mitsumi, and cannot seem to get it to work, it always fails with sector not found on a Read Long. It seems my Mitsumi doesn't support this, although CDGRAB's miniscule documentation seems to imply that it should work. Does anyone know of some other software that can do this? Would it work with a CD drive (any type - I'm open to suggestions) attached to a Future Domain TMS-860 SCSI controller. I can get those for free from the old parts bin at work. :) -- Mike Batchelor | UseLinuxUseLinuxUseLinuxUseLinuxUseLinuxUseLinuxUseLinux mikebat@netcom.com | xuniLesUxuniLesUxuniLesUxuniLesUxuniLesUxuniLesUxuniLesU ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Plug 'N' Play: A specification invented by Microsoft and Intel which enables a computer and its operating system to create hardware conflicts without user intervention. I have a pointer for you. I just got my GUS about a week ago and got it set up fine under DOS and MS-Windows. This week's project was to get it working under Linux. I spent many hours trying to get it to work, but I was having problems getting the sound to come out. I could hear it very faintly. Last night, the problem was solved. It turns out that the sound drivers released with version 1.0 of the linux kernel (version 2.4 sound driver) won't work with the new mixer in the 3.7 GUS. The version 2.5 sound driver does work. The new sound driver will eventually be released standard with version 1.1.10 of Linux. You can incorporate the new sound drivers separately into the 1.0 kernel. I hope this saves some people time and headaches. dp ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 30 Apr 1994 22:09:04 -0400 (EDT) From: mikebat@netcom.com (Mike Batchelor) Subject: Re: GUS Max price Not the GUS Server once wrote... $ $ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- $ $ Date: Fri, 29 Apr 1994 14:15:37 MST $ From: "Dean C. They expect to start shipping at the end of next week, as soon as the cards arrive. After installing, i select the appropriate digital and music sound drivers (the GUS obviously). The install program reminds me to run ultramid.exe before loading seawolf. So after typing ultramid i get the error: "configuration file not in $(ULTRADIR)/midi directory" Wassup? I've got the ultrasound files in the standard c:\ultrasnd dirctory and don't have problems using playmidi or anything else. My config.sys file has the line: "device=C:\ULTRASND\ultrinit.sys ultrasnd=240,1,1,11,5" Everything else, including megaem and sbos has always worked properly. Any help would be appreciated. I find that people here are so kind and enthusiastic ,and that's why I looking for help here. I am a university student in Taiwan. I want to be one of the GUSers but I can't afford the price here. So I decided to buy GUS from mail-order firm in US. At first, I send a FAX(4/5) to ComputAbility and he reply me quickly. After that, I totally sent 4 FAXs ,but none had its response. Two weeks later(4/21), I turned my order to Global Horizons and he reply me more quickily. Also, I totally sent 4 FAXs to it. And now, I have waited his confirmation FAX for about 10 days. I don't know what's wrong with me or him! I am sure that I fill in every blank of order in detail and my credit card is not one of the stolen cards. I have dreamed of GUS day & nite for more than 2 months. I know every GUSer can realize what kind of feeling it is. I know this may be some kind of rude request ,and I wish your tolerance again. All I want is some kind man can make a phone call for me and check out why my order isn't affective. Thanx a lot in advance !
