Thompson" Subject: GUS and Pentium users - please read (SBOS problem) I have a Gateway 2K P5-60 system with a GUS installed. SBOS refuses to work on this system because of some type of conflict with the PS/2 mouse port. I am currently talking with GW tech support trying to get the problem solved, but I am having a *lot* of trouble convincing them that it is the Gateway P5 and not the GUS. I know that other GW P5 owners have complained here about similar problems, so I am fairly conviced myself. What I'd like to do is make a mini-survey of GUS/Pentium combinations so I can pass the information on to Gateway. My hope is that having a some statistics on the GW systems (and other systems) will get them looking for a solution instead of trying to dodge the problem. If you have a Gateway P5 (and SBOS doesn't work for you), your response may help to get the problem fixed for both of us. If you have any other kind of Pentium (or SBOS works on *your* Gateway), I hope you'll reply out of sheer kindness and love of fellow man. The following information is not all necessary, but it will be helpful if you can fill out as much as possible: Manufacturer (GW2K, Dell, etc.) : Clock Speed : Motherboard rev. (Mine is rev. 4) : BIOS version (Mine is 1.00.03.AF2) : Bus type (PCI/ISA, PCI/EISA, etc.) : Graphics Card (ATI PCI GUP, etc.) : Mem manager (QEMM, EMM386, etc.) : Mouse Type (Serial, PS/2 port) : Mouse driver (mine is MS v9.01) : Does SBOS work on your system (y/n): If you can think of anything else that may be significant, please include that information as well. Please *e-mail* responses to: jgt1@ra.msstate.edu I will reply when I receive your message. Hasn't been too much of a problem, > but it IS there. I spoke with Sierra Tech Support (Got a problem? Make a boot disk! :-) and the person said that within the resource.cfg file, there is a line AudioSize (I think). It's 63k in mine; he said to up it to 80k. FWIW, I've got 12MB of memory in my system. I also found out that one will have to edit install.hlp to use the INSTALL program. There are a couple lines for the Gravis UltraSound (indicating a desire at some point to support the GUS), but the filenames don't match the new drivers. Either edit the lines (and the blah.hlp line right below it) or rename the drivers to the "original" name... Hello, I recently bought Kyrandia I CD and I have had no problems getting MEGA-EM to run for MT-32 sound and my SB-PRO in the same machine for the voices, etc. However, I'd like to use the SB-PRO also for Sound Effects, because I don't like hearing a trumpet when I should be hearing an explosion, etc. The configuration program doesn't give you an option for which soundcard you want for sound effects, but it does list it on the final "are you sure" screen like this: Musical soundtrack: ROLAND MT-32/LAPC-1 Sound effects : ROLAND MT-32/LAPC-1 Voices : SOUND BLASTER PRO Now, I was thinking why would it list it seperate if you couldn't change it... I noticed the configuration file (KYRACD.CFG) is exactly 10 bytes long, and so is the one for LOLCD, another Westwood/Virgin game, but LOLCD let's you choose different cards for voice, music AND sound effects... So, you can probably hack it to do this but does anyone know how? I tried copying my LOLCD.CFG over my KYRACD.CFG but it just blew up... Please e-mail me if you have any ideas!
