That was the reason for the delay, otherwise they could have just tacked on a tech.note not to have config.bak on your system. Becuase the vast majority of the program is in the form of about 20 mins of CD Audio playable by any machine including Hi-fi's. I have a controller keyboard (a Roland PC200MKII, very cheap and very recommended) with no synth. I just toggle "MIDI thru" and select the output port to be the GUS and anything, from MIDIfier to Orchestrator works. The patch-caching is a bit nagging but do your best. Magic Carpet is the most awesome sight to behold on a 486/pentium since I first layed eyes on Doom. This game his killer code, it's like taken straight from an Assembly Demo. You roar across the terrain, the water moves beneath you and casts reflections, and everything is real 3-d. Makes the Vortex space engine for Armored Fist a laughing matter, these guys code assembler with high class. Anyway, this was just a demo, but it still had gus support. Just like the demo of Nascar racing, which also uses the HMI- drivers, it fails to set up the GUS as midi. I ask again; is there a way to load the gus's memory to work with these new HMI-drivers ? Oh well, I am sure the released version will work just fine, so take my word; look out for Magic Carpet. It ROCKS! (The demo is only like 2mb's big, and the graphics look pre-rendered). Btw, I got it from a german cd-rom magazine called PC-Games Disc & Mag. Last month it had demos of the 11th hour and Kings Quest VII. Later all, \//// |. .| ( - ) Broderdue (Gimme the new megaem Jayeson, gimme it.... ;) Oh, has anyone gotten Zool 2 cd-rom to work with the gus ? It's a killer arcade/platform game. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Oct 1994 22:24:45 +1100 (EST) From: Tom Minchin Subject: Lands of Lore with GUS? Hi all, Anyone know of a solution to the problem when using MegaEm with Lands of Lore? The music is cool, but the sounds are merely musical notes (when some monsters attack you you hear applause!). SBOS works, but is a bit rough. Your sounds choices seem a bit limited too. You can only have a single type of board to play sound and music. It look great. Im a little disappointed though. Yes it has GUS support using the HMI drivers but when you have GUS selected the game doesnt run. The strange thing is when you test the sound selection the sound plays fine. If i select soundblaster or no sound the game functions fine. Has anyone had a similar problem?? i would have to put it down to a bug in the HMI drivers.! arrgh! What exactly are the propats? do I copy them over my existing patches and they rip? If so, wouldn't that cause problems since they are larger than the normal ones, programs couldn't tell whichones you had and they couldn't load them all when they need to? 2. I hear alot about the new MEga-em with Protected mode compatability. Is this out yet? If so, is it at the usual GUS sites? ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Oct 1994 11:15:30 -0500 (EST) From: Timothy B Martin Subject: WC III Question...
