Thanks, Tom. You made my day! CLUE #1: Pointing out other's spelling mistakes is considered bad form. CLUE #2: Pointing out other's spelling mistakes *incorrectly* makes you look like a total idiot. It is amusing to the *educated* readers, however... Well I've been reading what you guys are saying about chaning the sound FX driver from E023 to E024 (for regular GUS) and from E027 to E028 (for GUS MAX).. I then changed my Music Driver to A002 but when the soundset program plays I only get the drum beats, no melody. Also, the game will now start without problem and I get the sound FX but again the music is only the drum beats and no melody.. what could the problem be?? -- ________________________________________________________________________________ ariff@ix.netcom.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 12 Nov 1994 10:24:15 -0500 From: RonHall@aol.com Subject: Gravis Upgrade Has anyone out there specifically upgraded to the GUS MAX from a normal GUS via the upgrade offer? I just sent in my order for my MAX and was wondering how long people had to wait before Gravis sent out their MAX. The form says something like 6-8 weeks which would really suck, is this how long it actually took or did they get it out faster? As there are many such messages every day, it makes much garbage for me on my mail. So if other people feel like me, I suggest the administrator of the digest created a new mailing-list, say "gus-games@..." for example, dedicated to games-specific issues, which would reduce the overload on "gus-general..." What do you people on the list think of this ? ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 12 Nov 1994 16:18:55 +0100 From: rits@xs4all.nl (Richard Ritsma) Subject: System Shock DEMO from PC-GAMES I bought the December issue from PC-Games, becouse there was a demo CD with i.e. SYSTEM-SHOCK on it. I've noticed that the demo can be configured to use several sound cards, the GUS is one of them. I own a standard GUS rev 2.4 with 1 Mbyte RAM, most games worked fine with this card for one and a half year now. And I interested in SS so I bought the DEMO-CD But after choosing the GUS you can test the setup, there was a message that say's 'NO MUSIC CARD DETECTED' and 'NO SOUND CARD DETECTED' I've 'remmed out' the emm386 in the config.sys but no difference. I also change the gus init in the autoexec.bat (set ultrasnd=220,1,1,11,7 and set blaster=a220 I7 D1 T1) for use with only the lower DMA's (standard setup) from the gus install, and run the demo again but still the same message (shit shit), and the important thing NO SOUND/MUSIC. (I've tried the SB setup in game also for use with SBOS and GM/SB for use with MEGAEM but still no,nothing, zero, nadda! Someone tried the demo? and does it worked? Please let me know. ======Richard Ritsma===== GRAVIS ULTRASOUND <<<<+++++>>>>> FOR EVER and..... ======Rits@xs4all.nl===== ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 12 Nov 94 9:29:46 CST From: "Jay R. There are quite a few versions floating around, so it would be nice to know exactly what version solved your problems. Thanks. (A Dashboard users 8-) ) -- Jay R.
