I encounter some new problems with the NMI. It seems that, in the Assus, the Parity Check is Enabled by default. I find how to enable this, so now Sbos works for example. I said it works... but it loaded and don't do nothing. In real mode now, without Sbos, when I choose ultrasound for FX in doom or in rise of the triad for example , the sound is really greepy, bad, where it works before. My PC: P90, 16mg, Gus Max 1Mg, MotherB Assus PCI, Diamond 64 pci... My questions: If I enable Parity Check.. for the NMI: Is it doing something about the performances of my PC. Could I pass through NMI ? If a put a Sound Blaster Pro in my PC with my Gus Max, could you tell me if it's possible and if it is, could you indicate me an ADRESSE,IRQ,DMA configuration of these two cards to live together ? I used the Manley's v0.6(?) driver. This plays sound but no midi though. Is there another driver wich CAN do this??? As I read my replies about Win95 than I can only conclude that Win95 will give me less problems with my GUSMAX than OS/2 Warp is. Is this correct????? Total Sound Loss on GUS Max! Hello everyone, For some months now, I've been using a 1024K GUS Max in my multimedia PC. I've been able to use it successfully in Windows (3.11 for Workgroups), DOS (6.22) and most of the games and other programs I run. At least, I USED to be able to do this... Now, it seems to have stopped working altogether...! Previously, my system looked somewhat like this: (*) Pentium 66 MHz-based PCI motherboard (*) 16 MB internal RAM (*) Stealth 64 VRAM 4 MB SVGA card (*) Multi I/O card with 2 ser./1 par./1 game (*) Adaptec bootable SCSI-host adapter (*) NEC 3Xi triple speed SCSI-2 CD-ROM (*) Seagate 500 MB hard disk IDE (*) Conner 1.06 Gigabyte hard disk SCSI-2 (*) Gravis Ultrasound MAX w/1024K on-board Two weeks ago, I installed a second IDE drive into my system (as drive D:). Following this installation, I have started using ASPIDISK.SYS in my AUTOEXEC.BAT (in addition to ASPI2DOS and ASPICD, which where always there) to be able to address my SCSI- hard disk as drive E:. Apart from re-tuning my AUTOEXEC and CONFIG with MEMMAKER, I haven't changed *anything* at all (as far as I recall). WHAT HAPPENS NOW WHEN I BOOT UP: My drives work fine, but... my GUS Max doesn't do *zip* anymore! Under Windows, my system hung every time I tried to play a WAV-file... MIDI-files sound great, by the way! There seems to be no problem with that. Sound RECORDING under DOS (such as in Ultra Sound Station) looks OK, but when I press Play, NOTHING happens! (apart from a faint hissing sound). By the way, I was using driver files v5.47 under Windows. Installing the new drivers or using a different IRQ/DMA/ whatever doesn't really seem to do anything. Somewhere in a GUS FAQ, I read a message from someone who said that skipping the SET ULTRA16=... line in your AUTOEXEC.BAT at least got some sounds working for him. I tried this, and that also seems to work for me! When I run my GUS in that forced 8-bit mode, at least I can play WAV-files under DOS (although they don't sound too great, I assure you). Finally, all my DOS-based GUS test/install/benchmark programs test the board as being perfectly OK, so I can't discover the problem there. --> My question: HELP! Is there anyone out there who has had this experience, and/or has found a solution for this? Is it known whether or not extra IDE drives and/or using ASPIDISK.SYS could cause problems? Is there a cure by means of special command-line-parameters? Please, please, please let me know should you know anything. My GUS has shut up completely, and I'm stuck with a soundless 'multi'media PC! Any info would be greatly appreciated.
