The thing about your solution is that when I was testing that with the 302 build reming out QEMM did change the results (but not for the better) instead of me getting the QEMM protection error I got a straight system crash. When I loaded up win95 in fail-safe mode it gave me a "error initializing gravultr.386 driver" window. And that was that. Did you get that as well before? John. Curious, are there any pictures of what the chip(s) look like? Just want to know if you can read any of the printing on the chip, hoping that the words Advanced Gravis or GF2 or something related to Advanced Gravis is imprinted in that chip somewhere. 8-) > Yeah, but other people would.... they're used to over-priced > sound-bastard's and AWEful32's! Thanx in advance, Abbas ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 15 Feb 1995 21:15:34 -0800 (PST) From: George Subject: MK2 demo with native GUS Thanks to the GUSer who gave the tip on renaming all of the .gvs files to grv for native GUS support. I would like to add that its best to run ultramid without the -c for 16-bit, patch caching mode. Also, if using 16-bit patch caching mode, I recommend to use a disk cache like smartdrv. Also, QEMM (v7.??) screwes up with so I suggest using Himem.sys only. Have fun. Mortal Kombat 2 demo sounds great, though I hope that the full version or perhaps the CD will come with custom GUS patches 'ripped' off from the arcade so the music sounds closer to the arcade. I do have to admit, the music sounds a bit wierd since I'm used to listening to the arcade's music. -George ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 16 Feb 1995 12:05:58 GMT From: "Mark 'Mark' Billinge" Subject: MKII demo availability Can anyone tell me where I can FTP this Mortal Kombat II demo? I am trying to run Warcraft with my Ultrasnd and with my Roland SCC-1. I have already copied over the SB16.DIG file and now I can't get any sound from the line in (Roland) while running Warcraft. Here's a question concerning the new CD-ROM I've just bought. I bought the thing at Office-1-Superstore, and I think the name is CD-550E or CDU-550E. I looked at the connector, and it's an IDE interface, (ATAPI is mentioned quite frequently), but it only fits into the panasonic or mitsumi ports on the GUS MAX. Now I'm experemental, but I have no wish to fry either piece of hardware. The audio line in also fits into the Mitsumi CD audio in, but after enabling cd-line in from ultrinit still no sound. It the CD-ROM comes with an interface card, so I can use a stereo to stereo headphone cable (forgive me if I don't know the pin name) and enable line in to get wonderful sound. Does anyone know how to get sound to come through the GUS cd-in either by running the cd off the MAX or just by routing the sound cable to the max (I've got no problems with having the extra interface card, wich is merely a second IDE controller, extended, I think). The conflict was between QEMM and the GUS. The message about removing the RAM line in EMM386 is the one that clued me in. I removed the RAM line in QEMM which (incidently) basically removes all upper memory support that QEMM affords. The next thing to do is to locate what that conflict was exactly. Actually as long as I can run everything in a window under windows 95 I can toss QEMM. Thanks for all the input! Having sound again is very nice! John.
