A better way to describe the speech is to say it echos. I'm sure its my lack of understanding etc. but how can this happen. If the board is compatable with the Sound Blaster settup when music is playing how and/or why does the speech echo. (HIKE..hike..hike..hike). I have tried any and all posible sbos options with no success. If this is a problem which has no solution I believe the board should not be advertised as 'Sound Blaster' combatible. It would be a shame if this board could only be used by those people who have an indepth knowledge of computer hardware/software. There are still people who like to plug and play. enough for now..... Petzold's program only uses >one instrument at a time, so they always fit. Not necessarily. If you select channel 10 in KBMIDI, it'll have to load all percussion patches into GUS' memory. I haven't looked into this carefully because I have 1Meg on board, but people with less memory will not be able to hear some sounds. >2) Someone asked for an MCI command string to cache patches. I can't >find any information about how to do this in the SDK. Is there a >reason to suspect it's possible? Hmmm... I don't know if there's such thing exists in MCI command set. However, I'm sure that they included some sort of routine in new set of Windows driver to identify what patches has been loaded to Ultrasound's memory. - Yuri ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 28 Jan 93 0:57:08 EST From: dionf@ERE.UMontreal.CA (Francois Dion) Message-Id: <9301280557.AA12243@brise.ERE.UMontreal.CA> Subject: Microphone To: Ultrasound Daily Digest Hi, if you want to use any condenser mike or build one from scratch for 2$ (battery not included 8) ) or even use a macintosh microphone DO GET the file: micro.arj on archive.epas.utoronto.ca. It took me several hours to design and give very good results. Last minute update: for those who dont want to cut the end of their macintosh microphone, simply replace the microphone in fig.2 by a stereo minijack female connector so you can plug the microphone in this jack and still be able to use it for your Mac. If you do cut it and later you need it for a Mac, just leave the switch to off and reconnect the black wires together if you want to run them without battery, or simply disconnect the black and white wires at the jack and use the battery. In any case it should be fairly evident, but if you do have a question, you can email me. I saw one mailed on yesterday's digest that he too couldn't get it to work - any idea ? /Shmulik. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 27 Jan 93 20:49:59 PST From: bs@mda.ca (Bruce Sharpe) Message-Id: <9301280449.AA23718@ mda.ca> Subject: Replacement WinJammer v2.24 uploaded to epas To: Ultrasound Daily Digest I have uploaded WinJammer v2.24 (again) to klingon.epas.utoronto.ca (128.100.160.36) /pub/pc/ultrasound/submit/wjmr224.zip This replaces a previous upload that was corrupted. They also carried it for $10 more in Electronics Boutique. In any case I asked both stores about it. They both claimed to have been getting in only 1 or 2 at a time, and selling them immediately (for a total of 4-5 for each store), and to have had no returns or problem reports.
